This study ranked the states in the United States in terms of the overall financial stability of their residents, and Oklahoma was ranked 33rd in the United States according to the variables of measurement used in this study.
Specifically, this study concluded that nearly half of the residents of Oklahoma would be considered asset poor, which means that someone does not have any liquid assets available to fall back on should unforeseen financial difficulties arise. In addition, Oklahoma ranked 46th in the United States in terms of the percentage of low-paying jobs worked by its residents.
In addition, the study found that 17.5 percent of Oklahoma residents do not have health insurance. However, the study also found that home values have not dropped at the extreme level of other jurisdictions and that the employment rate did not fall at the same rate as many other jurisdictions. Overall, this ranking of 33rd in the United States places Oklahoma near the bottom third of all of the jurisdictions in the country.
The study provided letter grades for different categories related to financial stability, and Oklahoma received a D for financial assets and income, a C for business and jobs, a B for housing and home ownership, a D for healthcare and a C for education. The Oklahoma bankruptcy lawyersat Atkins & Markoff feel that the public should be aware of their overall financial standing.
